Job Description – Entry Environmental Scientist/EIT (Newmarket, Ontario)

We are in search of an enthusiastic, quality minded professional to join our growing team.  The successful candidate will be responsible for:

Performing air emission calculations and air dispersion modelling in support of Environmental Compliance Approval (ECA) applications, air Emissions Environmental Activity and Sector Registry (EASR), and air quality impact assessments;
Preparing reports for annual reporting (e.g., NPRI, ChemTRAC, GHGs);
Participating in project management including, but not limited to, proposal writing, cost estimates, and budget/time management; and
Working in a team environment and promoting BCX's market presence through quality work and attention to detail.

This position will not involve working in any of the following disciplines: biology, hydrogeology, geology, contaminated sites, or laboratory work.

The successful candidate must possess the following qualifications:

  • A University Degree in Chemical/Environmental Engineering from a recognized institution;
  • Fluent with Microsoft Office Tools (i.e., Excel, Word, Outlook and Access);
  • Ability to set priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment;
  • Strong oral and written communication skills; and
  • A valid Ontario Driver’s licence.


Relevant experience in the environmental consulting industry with a focus on air dispersion modelling is an asset.

Job Description – Intermediate Environmental Engineer (Newmarket, Ontario)

Performing air emission calculations and air dispersion modelling in support of Environmental Compliance Approval (ECA) applications air Emissions Environmental Activity and Sector Registry (EASR), and air quality impact assessments;
Preparing reports for annual reporting (e.g., NPRI, ChemTRAC, GHGs);
Managing various projects including, but not limited to, proposal writing, cost estimate, budget/time management, task prioritization and client liaison; and
Working in a team environment and promoting BCX's market presence through quality work and attention to detail.

This position will not involve working in any of the following disciplines: biology, hydrogeology, geology, contaminated sites, or laboratory work.

The successful candidate must possess the following qualifications:


  • A University Degree in Chemical/Environmental Engineering from a recognized institution;
  • Minimum 3-5 years of work experience in the environmental consulting industry with a focus on air quality;
  • Fluent with dispersion modelling software including AERMOD View and Microsoft Office Tools (i.e., Word, Excel, Outlook and Access);
  • Proven experience developing air emission inventories;
  • Sound knowledge of regulatory requirements and a thorough understanding of Environmental Compliance Approvals and annual reporting;
  • Ability to set priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment;
  • Strong technical writing and time management skills;
  • Ability to effectively communicate with team members, clients, subcontractors and government agencies;
  • Attention to detail and exceptional problem solving skills; and
  • A valid Ontario Driver’s licence.
